Wipeout Pure, the latest edition to the popular racing series for the PSP handheld entertainment system, provides an intense, combat racing experience as players choose from five different speed classes and race relentlessly around 16 futuristic, racing tracks. During both single and multi-player gameplay, racing fans will be able to enjoy challenging, action-packed gameplay modes that include Single Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Free Play and Zone Mode (single-player only). Supporting up to eight players via a Wi-Fi link for multiplayer gameplay, gamers will be able to take on their friends and attempt to blast enemy ships to pieces in a fierce competition for top racing honors. With a game like this, it's easy to see how much expectation there was for the PSP. Killer graphics (even by today's standards), great sound (if you like the techno beats from the PS version), great, responsive gameplay and strategy all wrapped up in a tiny silver disc! It even has online features and playing with friends is a blast! That most PSP games are pathetic ports of PS1 games and crappy movie adaptations is disappointing in the face of games like this. It's almost like Sony said, "OK guys, HERE'S how you make a PSP game," and then the developers promptly ignored them!!!
